Process Health Management
CPIS’s Process Health Management helps clients to noticeably improve performance of their development projects and other important activities. Process Health Management involves effective and practical Diagnosis, Counselling and Treatment. We use these terms to describe our approach because product development or service groups, just like people, often suffer from behavioural dysfunctions that can seriously affect their performance.
For example, typical subjects for personal counselling may experience specific behavioural or emotional difficulties, or generally lose their sense of purpose or direction. Many businesses have analogous symptoms and our holistic approach to solving these problems has other parallels in personal diagnosis, counselling and therapy:
Process Health Diagnosis:
The performance of engineering teams is heavily influenced by human behaviour, relationships and level of understanding of the job in hand. And sometimes no amount of attention to the formal description of processes and procedures will make a significant difference to the outcomes. In cases like these it is often difficult to see the wood from the trees and that’s where CPIS’s Process Health Diagnosis comes in.
We take an objective look at all aspects of development, independent of any vested interests, and listen non-judgementally to aspirations, frustrations, difficulties and successes from all involved. Based on what we learn we apply our experience and knowledge to help our clients identify what the real obstacles to higher performance are, and these vary from one company to the next, sometimes from one team to the next.
We insist on confidentiality, which develops individual trust which, in turn, leads to an honest and frank diagnosis, and can uncover behavioural warning signs. We will ask the questions that need to be asked to develop a diagnosis and prognosis, even if the answers are sometimes painful.
Process Health Counselling:
Once a Process Health Diagnosis has been reached CPIS assists our clients to identify and evaluate a range of suitable potential remedies by using Process Health Counselling. Just like its medical cousin, Process Health Counselling is at our clients’ request - nobody can be forced into it.
Whether there are issues to resolve or inefficiencies to understand and correct, we guide rather than direct our clients towards solutions and/or approaches that are devised by and acceptable to them and which are therefore liable to stand the test of time. Along the way we ask searching questions about proposed solutions, act as an objective sounding board for ideas, or provide experience based opinions if necessary.
And “counselling” need only last as long as the client feels the need for it. We trust our clients to make the decisions that are right for them, and that includes whether they need our help or not.
Process Health Treatment:
After Process Health Diagnosis and Counselling comes treatment.
Whatever the proposed treatments we make sure they are adequately understood, succinctly defined, thought through and planned, carefully developed, and appropriately tested before applying them. We help our clients ensure that deployed solutions are effective in restoring Process Health, whatever challenges were identified in the Diagnosis stage. As the treatment is administered, we assist our clients in judging improvement, and keeping an eye out for unwanted side-effects, until Process Health is restored and/or enhanced.
And if specialist help is needed we can provide it ourselves, introduce an appropriate one of our strategic partners, or help find a suitable specialist from the wider market place, depending on what is best for our clients.
To help our clients get the best out of Process Health Management, CPIS also provides in-house or public training and workshops in the necessary disciplines.
